Dividend time

It’s almost that time of the year again. No, not wholesale fashion jewelry sale - although it’s Year End Sales now - but it’s the dividend for ASB time. If you haven’t noticed yet, ASB would be suspended from trading probably next week, and would be reopen for trading again in early January. And it’s about during this time that we’ll found out how much dividend and bonus we would be getting. It has been consistently above 8% for few years now, although i used to remember it hitting higher than 10% previously.

For those eligible and haven’t start investing in ASB, i suggest you start doing at the beginning of next year. At least, you’ll get full-year’s dividend rather than pro-rated. And if you have been considering to get loans for ASB, same advice applies as well. Try to get everything done before the trading got suspended :)

Follow, no follow?

I’m telling you this - it’s not like i’m not affected or frustrated by the recent Google PR shake - i almost throw my aprons in and give up, but no - that’s not just me. I almost want to give up on the Google PR thingy. But then again, seriously, what’s Google PR without traffic coming in at all?

You follow me so far? You know that the recent Google PR shake is mainly due to the fact that there’s too much spam-blogs around the world, leeching off quality posts from blogs all over (including this blog). And when Google saw the sites, they decided to punish the content owners as well. And well, there’s always the writing paid posts thingy to worry about.

Starting out on a clean slate

If you haven’t noticed yet, this blog has been kinda cleared any kind of external advertisements except of Nuffnang, Advertlets and Google Adsense. And occasionally paid posts. I intend to keep it that way for now. Nothing to do with trying to get some promotional pens from people, but just for the fun of it. Yeah - don’t you think it’s better that way?

My Adsense income is a little bit too pathetic - probably because i don’t experiment much on the ad placements, and in SEO. But i still do get some odd clicks here and there, and with a little bit more time, i guessed i can cash out my first Google check. Or was it easier using Western Union now? Hmm - i’d really loved to try it out. But first - have to work on the clicks lah.

And no, i’m not asking for people to blatantly click on my ads - Google, if you are reading this, i hope i made myself clear ;)

No to spur of the moment

Sometimes i just felt that i don’t have the discipline or the follow-through to do something. Yeah, probably i didn’t do much market research before i got into something. Sometimes, it’s more like the spur of the moment and it just got me to do it. Sometimes, it’s just the way they present the opportunity, making me hard to resist it. Yes - i’m talking about all the Internet marketing thingy that comes everyday in my mailbox.

I have somehow learnt to stay away from those - except for some helpful tips and articles, though. The rest? I guessed my recycle bin is more than happy to keep it ;)

Any faster?

It’s been a month since my move from the old host. Can i ask you guys a question, especially those frequent readers - did you find any difference in loading time? Has it been faster, or slower? Does it take any longer time to load, and see the whole of my blog? Just doing a quick survey to find out if this new host can add some savings to the checking accounts or not ;)

Personally, i can’t tell much difference from the old host. Maybe i’m not that picky, but then again, the location of the servers are still the same - in The US - although the company is a Malaysia company. If it goes on like this, i have already picked a keeper :)

Google-smacked, real hard

It seems that this time round, i didn’t survive the Google PR update smacking. Yep - Google smack me right in the face of this blog and my main blog, and what’s left was the history of PR3 (on this site) and PR4 (on my main blog). What happened? Well, let’s just say that i’m back to the time when i just started to blog, and working to get the PR up.

Perhaps the fact that i did paid posts on both this and my main blog has a big influence in Google smacking me real hard this time. And not me alone, my sifu, 5xmom, got hit badly as well. And i guessed it happened to all bloggers who has paid posts on their blogs. I know this may be old news, but i just realised about my PR when i checked it earlier today. Maybe it’s karma. Maybe it’s time to do something else?

Maybe i should just buy some camping gear, go to some jungle, and stay off technology for a while. Maybe that’ll help with the PR. Hmm…

Always read the fine print

I think i learn new stuffs everyday, even though those stuffs i should already know by heart. Whatever that you do or deal with, just make sure you keep yourself updated with the rules and regulation. And also, keep yourself updated with the term of conditions is a good idea too, especially if you didn’t bother reading one when you sign up initially.

Yes - it’s the fine print that sometimes can get you in trouble. I’m not referring to any specific thing or program - i’m generalising it. Like if you were to go for a drug rehabilitation program, you should always find out what’s written on the fine prints as well to save you from hassle.

I’ll have a lot to read up then - wait up! :)
