Angpow time

Talking about money, i just went to get some small bank notes exchange to prepare for Chinese New Year. Being married, it’s customary to give other unmarried relatives and kids angpows. And it don’t come cheap – especially if you consider giving to a lot of relatives. Even RM5 a packet can already set me back at least RM500 or more, depending on whether we have any special guests coming that year.

RM500 to RM1000. Enough to buy good and branded MP3 players like iPOD. Lucky that starting last year, it’s no longer only giving but also receiving. Well, not me and my wife, but our daughter. At least getting something back although it’s really receiving on her behalf, and putting it into her bank account. When she’s old enough, then all those money would be transferred to ASB and she can earn better dividend while at the same time, can sort of double as her education fund as well.

Well – that’ll still be long time to go.
